FEBRUARY

2/12/10 - National Road Interpretive Center First Anniversary
The National Road Interpretive Center in Vandalia is celebrating its first anniversary. A number of new displays will greet guests, with the most outstanding being the Conestoga Wagon. Also during the celebration, the National Road Association of Illinois will present bronze plaques to the nine architecture sites selected in Vandalia to be part of the association's Art and Architecture Tour. MARCH

3/25/11 - 3/27/11 - Spring Indian Market Days
Indian artists and vendors will display and sell crafts, artwork, clothing, jewelry, and much more at this Cahokia Mounds event. Hours are from noon to 5 pm Friday, 9 am to 5 pm Saturday, and 9 am to 5 pm Sunday. For more information, visit www.cahokiamounds.org.



APRIL

4/29/11 - 4/30/11 - Effingham Artisan Fair
The Annual Artisan Fair includes two-days of activities and is sure to be fund for the entire family. Activities will be held on the square in Downtown Effingham from 5 to 10 p.m. Friday evening and will include a live art auction, a wine tasting, a local food fair, and live entertainment. The traditional Artisan Fair will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, with over 30 artisans from across the region having art on display for purchase. Art for sale includes oil paintings, pottery, jewelry, glassware, and sculptures. Other events on Saturday include a wine tasting, a Kids Korner, a food fair, and live entertainment. 5/14/11 - City of the Sun 5k Run/Walk
Run or walk the rails that wind around the site and through the rugged areas of Cahokia Mounds for the City of the Sun event. The trails are scenic and natural, and will not include inclines. Early registration, before May 1, is $20. The registration fee on race day is $25. Registration is available through www.racesonline.com.

5/15/11 - Kids Day at Cahokia Mounds
Bring the kids out for a day of fun at Cahokia Mounds. A variety of events will be held, including hands-on activities, crafts, games, and dancing. Kids of all ages are invited. Hours are from 11 am to 4 pm. For more information, visit www.cahokiamounds.org.


JUNE

6/4/11 to 6/5/11 - Funfest for Air-Cooled VWs
Mid America Motorworks coporate campus located on U.S. 45 in Effingham will be flooded with Volkswagens of all types during the 11th Annual Funfest for Air-Cooled VW. Last year, Funfest had over 1,300 Volkswagens and 8,000 enthusiasts that flocked the grounds at Mid America Motorworks. For more information, visit www.funfestevents.com.

6/4/11 to 6/5/11 - Inernational Horseradish Festival
The International Horseradish Festival celebrates the multi-faceted and vastly under utilized horseradish. Come to the festival for live music, food booths, root toss, root golf, root sacking contests, craft fair, Bloody Mary contest, Little Miss Horseradish Festival Pageant, horseradish recipe contest, and much more! 6/15/11 to 6/17/11 - IHSRA Rodeo Finals

7/9/11 - 7/10/11 - 16th Annual Contemporary Art Show

7/22/11 to 7/24/11 - The Annual Millroad Steam Thresherman's Association Show

TBA - Outdoor Days

9/16/11 - 9/19/11 - Corvette Funfest
Mid America Motorworks will host its 17th Annual Corvette Funfest at is campus, located along U.S. 45 in the northern part of Effingham. The Funfest is one of the largest gatherings of Corvette enthusiasts in the country. 11/27/11 - Old Fashioned Christmas

12/1/11 - 12/25/11 - Wonderland in Lights
The City of Effingham's Wonderland in Lights drive-thru Christmas lights display is certain to get everyone in the holiday spirit. Hours are from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday to Thursday, and from 5 to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday. The display is set up at Community Park, located on East Temple Avenue.
